At Garcia de Pou we have inaugurated a new network of solar panels on the roof of our facilities in 2023. A structure made up of 2,606 panels, which have the capacity to generate 1.7 GWh per year and to satisfy a large part of the energy demand used in the company’s industrial process. Garcia de Pou’s objective with this installation is to achieve energy self-sufficiency, as well as contributing to the reduction of its carbon footprint.
It is becoming increasingly common for a shop to deliver our shopping in a recycled paper bag, to sit down in a restaurant that uses recycled tablecloths or to see rolls of paper and all kinds of products with the «100% recycled» label on the shelves of department stores. It is not for nothing that paper is one of the most recycled materials and, also, it is being recycled better and better, in other words, more efficiently and sustainably. So, it is not surprising that the production of such products is increasing and that consumer demand is growing.
García de Pou’s customers have an app to quickly place their orders and carry out their day-to-day business from their mobile or tablet. It allows you to make purchases, quickly access your invoices in the private area and consult your order history on your mobile device. But why should you download the app right now? We give you all the arguments.

For this occasion, we have incorporated new, ecological products, with renewed designs and formats, which are added to the great variety of articles already available. These are the new trends for Christmas 2022-2023.
One of the dilemmas that hospitality owners face, from an environmental point of view, is whether it is better to use reusable or single-use tableware in their businesses. A priori, the use of reusable packaging might seem to favour a circular economy. But a thorough life-cycle analysis of different packaging, commonly used in quick-service establishments, shows that the environmental footprint of single-use packaging is smaller and therefore contributes to a more sustainable world.
One of the objectives of the United Nations (UN) for the coming years is to halve food waste, a problem that affects all countries in the world, especially the most populated ones. It is estimated that 931 million tonnes of food are thrown away every year, a figure that we should try to reduce as much as possible if we want to help solve one of the biggest problems facing us as a species: how a world population that is constantly growing and with limited resources will feed itself in the future.
Paper shopping bags are increasingly being used in shops. They have long since caught up with plastic bags in terms of performance, strength and durability. They also surpass them in certain aspects, such as brand visibility. But it is the environmental benefits that make them the preferred choice for consumers and shop owners alike. Now, thanks to a study, we also know that reuse is more common than we thought.

Premium-quality melamine tableware is back in fashion in the hotel and restaurant sector, and it’s no wonder, since its shape, appearance and finish is modern and attractive – very much in keeping with current trends.
In terms of quality, premium melamine crockery is on a par with porcelain or ceramic tableware. In fact, it is so similar that it can be difficult to tell them apart at first glance.
